Ubud is and old, traditional Balinese settlement dating back to the Eighth-century. Ubud gets its name from the Balinese word ubad (medicine) because the location was originally an important source of medicinal herbs and plants. Later in the nineteenth century, Ubud became the seat of feudal lords who owed their allegiance to the king of Gianyar state and over the centuries developed a reputation as a haven for the creative arts.
Nowadays, Ubud is a creative, vibrant town in the middle of the rice fields, where to this day, rice is still grown and harvested for the community. You can see these wonderful fields from Eden House and explore them by foot with beautiful walking trails only minutes away. Around Ubud you’ll find some incredible places to visit. Local dinner
In Bali we have many special dishes that we love. Satay Tusuk, Lawar Bali and Tuna soup for example. Owner Kadek has her special dish which is grilled chicken or duck slow cooked in banana leaves. Kadek is more than happy to let you taste Bali while you enjoy your stay at the Eden House. If you want, you can even go with Kadek to the market and help in the kitchen. Or you can just enjoy your home cooked meal on the end of the day after exploring the beautiful area.
